Goosefoot Community Fund, a South Whidbey-based nonprofit committed to fostering a thriving community, is seeking a Facilities Assistant. The position is primary responsibility for helping maintain Goosefoot’s buildings, properties and equipment to ensure these meet the highest levels of safety and functionality.

Facilities Assistant

Position: 30-35 hours per week
Position to be filled as soon as possible

  • Salary Range: $26-30/hour, dependent on experience

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience as handyperson, including making small repairs, painting, clearing, cleaning, pressure-washing, use of power tools and hand tools commonly used in building, repair, and maintenance.
  • Committed to upholding safety measures and regulations.
  • Self-directed and enjoys working individually and as a team.
  • Enjoys trouble-shooting and problem-solving.
  • Organized, timely and trustworthy.
  • Service-oriented and patient.
  • Respectful, considerate and supportive of others.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. and move large items and materials.
  • Brings positive attitude and a sense of humor.
  • Supports the mission and values of Goosefoot and is committed to advancing those in the community.

*The days set for the work week with this position are negotiable and availability for scheduling a regular shift on Saturdays or Sundays is highly desirable.

Types of Responsibilities:

  • Communicate regularly with Bayview Corner Facilities and Property Manager to prioritize tasks.
  • Implement miscellaneous repairs of all sorts as needed, including for gutters, downspouts, signage, railings, doors, windows, walls, walkways, decks, bathrooms, etc.
  • Take recycling from facilities to recycling center.
  • Collect garbage from facilities and put in appropriate dumpsters.
  • Maintain order and neatness of garbage and recycling shed.
  • Sweep or use blower to clear entries, walkways, and parking lot areas.
  • Pressure wash facilities and shed when needed.
  • Check and maintain all inside and outside lights at all properties, replacing lamps as needed.
  • Repair, fill holes, refresh paint on walls at all properties whenever needed.
  • Tidy and stock all bathrooms daily.
  • Fix or report leaks, spills, messes, clogged plumbing, electrical issues, etc.
  • Install and take-down all Goosefoot decorations for the holidays, including lights.
  • Take meter readings as directed.
  • Maintain gravel parking areas.
  • Keep rooftop and drainage scuppers clear of debris on roof of facilities.
  • Provide assistance with keys and entry to locked areas of subcontractors, inspectors and cleaners and help with such for tenants.
  • Be available via cell phone and messaging for assistance when needed.
  • Provide miscellaneous support for staff when needed.

Reporting Relationships: This position reports to the Bayview Corner Facilities and Properties Manager.
